Kohli requried 81 to reach 10,000 ODI runs and he got there with a push to long-on off Ashley Nurse in the 37th over of the Indian innings.After that, he discharged away to his 37th hundred as India continued to dominate West Indies in the second ODI of the five-match series in Vizag.

Kohli is already second in the list of most centuries in ODIs behind Sachin Tendulkar, who leads with 49 hundreds. Kohli broke another record of Tendulkar to become the fastest to 10,000 ODI runs. Kohli took only 205 innings and 213 matches to enter the elite club where Tendulkar reached the landmark in 259 innings,.
Virat Kohli got his second successive ODI hundred, fifth this year and the 37th of his career to celebrate his entry into the 10000 run club in the 50 over format. This is the seventh time Kohli has scored two successive hundreds in ODIs. Kohli had scored  match winning 140 because India chased down 323 with ease against West Indies in Guwahati. He had scored three hundreds in the six matches ODI series. He then scored two half centuries in three ODIs in England before taking a break from the Asia Cup.
Kohli has had a amazing year in both Tests and ODIs much like 2017. At the start of the year, he scored 871 runs across all three formats on the tour of South AfriaKohli returned to ODI cricket with a bang and smashed 140 in Guwahati before leading from the front once again in Vizag where India had lost their in-form openers early. He was made in a 139 run partnership with Ambati Rayudu (73) as India regained control.
 Kohli became the fourth batsman to score 10000 ODI runs for India and in the process, he also broke Sachin Tendulkar's record to become the fastest to reach the milestone. Kohli also shooted past the 1000 run mark in a calendar year for the sixth time.He had scored over 1000 runs in four consecutive years from 2011 to 2014. He then smashed 1460 runs in 2017.
